Evidence needed for an RTO unboxing video

24 September 20266 min readReviewed guide

A practical checklist for clear, continuous and reviewable package-opening evidence without promising claim approval.

An unboxing video is useful only when a reviewer can follow what happened from the sealed parcel to the visible item. The goal is a factual record, not a dramatic video or an accusation.

Before recording

  • Use a bright, steady recording area.
  • Keep the complete parcel inside the frame.
  • Check that the relevant label or barcode can be read without publicly exposing unnecessary personal information.
  • Have enough free storage and battery to record continuously.
  • Do not open or alter the package before recording begins.

What the recording should show

  • All visible sides of the package and its condition
  • A readable shipment identifier where safe and relevant
  • The opening process in one continuous sequence
  • Every item and the quantity received
  • The product condition, including any clearly visible damage or mismatch
  • A closer view of the specific issue after the full opening is documented

Describe only what is visible

Use factual wording such as “the parcel contains one blue garment” or “a tear is visible near the sleeve.” Avoid claims about identity, intent, authenticity or hidden damage that the recording cannot establish.

Before preparing a claim

  • Confirm that the order, shipment and shop match.
  • Keep the original file rather than only an edited copy.
  • Review the current deadline and evidence requirements in the Supplier Panel.
  • Remove unrelated personal material from your working area.
  • Read the generated draft and make the final submission yourself.
